Work Health and Safety Manager

Taliano Group of Companies operates established wine and juice production businesses and is seeking an experienced, proactive Work Health and Safety (WHS) Manager to support our local sites.

About the Role

This hands-on role is responsible for managing WHS systems across our winery and juice production operations.

Working with management, supervisors, employees and contractors, you will promote a strong safety culture and provide practical guidance across production, cellar, processing, bottling, packaging, warehousing and maintenance activities.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, implement and continually improve WHS systems across both operations.
• Support compliance with NSW WHS legislation, regulations and applicable Codes of Practice.
• Conduct workplace inspections, risk assessments, safety audits and compliance reviews.
• Manage risks associated with machinery, forklifts, vehicle movements, hazardous chemicals, manual handling and other manufacturing activities.
• Develop and maintain WHS policies, procedures, risk assessments and emergency plans.
• Lead incident, injury and near-miss investigations and manage corrective actions.
• Co-ordinate statutory notifications and liaise with SafeWork NSW when required.
• Manage safety inductions, training, competency records and toolbox talks.
• Consult with employees, managers and health and safety representatives on WHS matters.
• Monitor contractor safety, permit-to-work and lockout/tagout requirements.
• Support injury management and return-to-work activities.
• Maintain accurate WHS records and report safety performance to management.

Qualifications and Skills

• Diploma or tertiary qualification in Work Health and Safety or a related discipline.
• Experience in a WHS management or senior advisory role, preferably within manufacturing, food or beverage production.
• Strong knowledge of NSW WHS legislation and Codes of Practice.
• Experience conducting risk assessments, audits and incident investigations.
• Sound understanding of manufacturing hazards, including machinery, forklifts, hazardous chemicals and manual handling.
• Strong leadership, consultation and communication skills.
• Practical, organised and solutions-focused approach to workplace safety.
• Incident investigation, lead auditor or return-to-work qualifications would be advantageous.
• Current First Aid Certificate and valid driver’s licence.
